Design and Craftsmanship
Every arch is edged with a finely scalloped border, and the corners above each opening hold hand-chiseled floral rosettes. Narrow bands of geometric chevron carving run down the vertical dividers and along the outer frame, adding depth and rhythm without crowding the design. A stepped, moulded cornice crowns the top, and a solid plinth base grounds the piece with a traditional, architectural look.
The carving shows the character of true handwork. Small variations in the motifs make each piece slightly unique.
Finish and Colour
The exterior has a distressed white-wash (lime-wash) finish that settles into the carved grooves. This highlights the pattern and gives the piece an aged, heirloom feel. The interiors are a rich, dark walnut-brown. The cool, chalky outside and warm, shadowy inside make the arches look like doorways, which adds dimension and drama.
