Bone Inlay Collection
Bone inlay involves the meticulous craftsmanship of intricately carving bone pieces into small forms, which are then delicately inserted into the surfaces of various objects like furniture and homewares.
This bold four-drawer chest makes a graphic statement, with every surface covered in hand-laid inlay in crisp black and cream. Stepped, diamond-shaped motifs repeat across each drawer front in a rhythmic, kilim-inspired pattern, while fine chevron borders run down the sides and slim bands of tiny diamonds separate the drawers. The high-contrast design feels strikingly modern, yet the painstaking handwork gives it a depth and craftsmanship that a printed finish could never match.
Two smaller drawers sit side by side above two wide, full-length drawers, creating a practical mix of storage for clothes, linens, and smaller essentials. Round cream knobs sit at the center of each geometric motif, blending neatly into the pattern so the surface stays clean and cohesive. A stepped, architectural detail beneath the bottom drawer and straight, slim legs give the chest a distinctive finished silhouette with a subtle nod to traditional Indian furniture design.
The wide, flat top is a perfect spot for a stack of books, a wooden keepsake box, or a vintage hand mirror. Equally at home in a bedroom, hallway, or living room, this chest adds graphic drama and global character to the space, and pairs beautifully with soft grey-blue walls, dried grasses, natural wood floors, and richly textured textiles.
