Reclaimed Rustic Indian TV Unit
Some pieces don't just hold your television, they anchor the whole room. This hand-finished TV unit brings together the softness of a distressed whitewash and the richness of hand-embossed brass. The result is a console with the timeworn charm of a heritage haveli, made for homes that value character over the ordinary.
Design & Aesthetic
The frame is finished in a whitewashed, lightly distressed look. The wood grain shows through in places, which gives the unit a lived-in, antique feel. Set against this pale body is a broad band of antique-finish brass running along the top rail and down both sides. It is embossed with a fine repeating floral pattern that catches the light and gives the piece a warm metallic glow.
Each door has a square brass panel at its centre, embossed with a detailed botanical motif in raised relief. The panels are set within a carved wooden frame. Slender, hand-carved bamboo-style columns run along the front edges. A layered, moulded cornice tops the unit, and a matching moulded plinth sits at the base. Together they give the piece a classical, balanced proportion. Rounded bun feet lift it off the floor and add a traditional touch.
Storage & Functionality
The centre has two open shelves, sized for a set-top box, gaming console, soundbar, streaming devices or a DVD player. Cables can run behind the shelves without clutter. Cupboards on either side have hinged doors with antique-finish metal handles. They hide away remotes, board games, media accessories, books, décor or bedding, and keep the unit looking tidy. The wide, low, stable top holds a large-screen TV, and there is room beside it for a lamp, plants or decorative objects.
Craftsmanship
This unit is made in the Rajasthani tradition of woodwork. Skilled artisans carve, assemble and finish each piece by hand, and the brass panels are individually embossed and fitted. The solid wood construction is built for durability and long-term use. The whitewash and distressing are done by hand, so no two units are exactly alike. Slight variations in grain, colour and finish are part of the character of a handcrafted piece.
