Bring the craftsmanship of Rajasthan into your home with this hand-carved corner bookshelf. Tall, slender and made to sit snugly into a corner, it turns an unused corner into a display piece. The warm, honey-brown wood finish and the detailed carving bring old-world character to any room.
Two pointed-arch niches, one at the top and one at the base, frame the display like small alcoves. Their carved spandrels are worked with floral and leaf motifs in the style of traditional Rajasthani jharokha windows and Mughal architecture. Between the niches, the front stiles carry a repeating diamond-lattice pattern, chiselled by hand. A carved cornice on top and a matching carved band at the middle give the piece a finished, architectural look.
The open shelves are set at different heights, so the shelf works for many uses. The tall top niche holds a row of leather-bound books. The two middle shelves suit jars, curios, framed photographs or an album. The lower niche has room for a globe, a sculpture or a lamp. The bottom shelf works well for larger books, baskets or décor pieces.
