Hand Carved Indian Brown Swing
Bring home a piece of royal Rajasthan with this majestic hand-carved wooden swing, a timeless jhula crafted in the heritage tradition of Indian artisan woodwork. Built from solid teak wood, this swing is designed to be both a functional seating piece and a striking architectural statement for any home, veranda, or garden space.
Design & Craftsmanship
The swing seat features an intricately carved backrest with a floral crest motif at the crown, flanked by delicate leaf and vine carvings that flow across the entire surface. Below, a latticed jaali panel in a diamond trellis pattern is inset with carved rosette medallions at each intersection — a hallmark of traditional Rajasthani lattice work, allowing light and air to pass through while adding visual depth and old-world elegance. The front rail continues the ornamentation with a scalloped sun-and-petal border, tying the whole seat together in a cohesive, richly detailed silhouette.
The seat itself is generously sized for two to three people, fitted with a plush cushioned upholstery pad in natural cream fabric for comfortable, everyday use.
Support Structure
The swing hangs from a freestanding wooden A-frame support system, anchored by two towering carved posts topped with traditional amalaka-style finials (temple-inspired bulb domes), a design element commonly seen in Rajasthani havelis and palace architecture. Each post is fully hand-carved along its length with medallion and foliate patterns, and rests on a sturdy stepped wooden base plinth for stability. A horizontal cross-beam connects the two posts at the base, reinforcing the frame's structural integrity.
The seat is suspended using heavy-duty blackened iron chains with turned wooden connector rods, allowing the swing to move freely with a smooth, gentle sway.
